Below are the meeting minutes from the February 10, 2007 Cooken Meeting

1.      Call to order (Fritz WD8E) - 12:10 EST.

2.      Welcome (and Introductions if a guest or new member attends).

Members present: Fritz WD8E, Mark K8MTR, Kevin KD8DNO, John W8NM, Tom KC8CSQ, Bob NR8U, Steve N8WL, Eldon W5UHQ and wife Carolyn, John N8DFQ, John W8UL and wife Millie, David KB8DAJ, Ralph WD8BBE, Jack K8CTO and Tony KB8JVH.

4.      President’s report (Fritz WD8E).

A.     Welcome HAMS new to the HF bands.

B.     Fritz WD8E also indicated the club call W8TNX has been renewed for another 10 years. The Chase bank statement was submitted to John W8NM for records.

5.      Treasurer’s report as posted on the web (John W8NM).

A.     No update.

6.      Committee reports

A.     Web site update (Mark K8MTR).

7.      Unfinished business

A.     40 meter net (Jack K8CTO)

i.         Jack K8CTO indicated the effort was somewhat “hopeless” and attendance was low. Changing frequency to 15 meters and day/time to Sunday at 20:00. Net coordination on 146.88 repeater and 146.40 simplex.

B.     80 meter net (Eldon W5UHQ)

i.         Eldon W5UHQ reported there were 8-9 check-ins. Made a motion that we suspend the 12 meter net and replace with an 80 meter net on 3.810 +/-.

C.     Future Carl Howard special event and traffic handling station (Bob NR8U)

i.         Bob NR8U indicated that he and Fritz met with representatives from “The Works” on South 2nd street. The event is scheduled for July 21. Additional details forthcoming via email. Also, if any member is interested, they can operate during that week as W8TNX—email Bob NR8U for details.

D.     Johnny Clem special event station

i.         Bob NR8U and Fritz WD8E shared samples of the 4th grader’s drawings to be considered for this year’s QSL page. Have decided not to hold the event at Johnny Clem Elementary this year as initially planned—rather, it will be held at the Historical Society again.

8.      New business

A.     VE secession (W8NM)

i.         John W8NM and Fritz WD8E indicated there are about 6 amateurs wanting to upgrade their licenses. Planning for an exam session on 3/17/2007.

B.     FD (WD8E)

i.         Fritz WD8E indicated we would continue with a joint Field Day with NARA. More info to come...

A.     Drawing

i.         John W8UL was the winner of this month’s World Radio subscription drawing.
