Here are the meeting minutes from the May 12, 2007 COOKEN Meeting:

 

  1. Call to order (Fritz WD8E) - 12:13
  2. Welcome (and introductions if a guest or new member attends).
    1. Members in attendance: Fritz WD8E, Kevin KD8DNO, John W8NM, Bob NR8U, Steve N8WL, Eldon W5UHQ (and Carolyn), and Jack K8CTO
    2. Guests: Dave KC8IA (joined club) and Frank W8FSL
    3. Steve N8WL made an announcement that Rocky KI8GE is now Silent Key.  The showing will be Tuesday, May 15 at Moreland Funeral home in Westerville.  Family visitation - 16:00, Service - 17:00

  4. President's report (Fritz WD8E).
    1. Candidates for June 2007 election, offices commencing July 2007:

·        President - Eldon W5UHQ

·        Vice President - Bob NR8U

·        Secretary - Kevin KD8DNO

·        Treasurer - John W8NM

  1. Treasurer's report as posted on the web (John W8NM) - accepted by group.
    1. John W8NM requested that prior to next meeting; he needs two members to participate in an annual audit of the finances for the club.

    1. Web site update (Mark K8MTR) - no update.  Positive group feedback.
  3. Unfinished business
    1. Future Carl Howard special event and traffic handling station (Bob NR8U).

·        Event will be July 21, 2007

·        Bob NR8U and Fritz WD8E met with WCLT and "The Works"

·        Will have space in the courtyard at "The Works" for operating.

·        New project: Crystal Radio - looking at sponsoring a new event some Saturday.

·        Event is for entire week, finishing up Saturday at "The Works". 

·        Fritz WD8E passed around drafts of a signup sheet and proposed table layout for the event.

·        Kevin KD8DNO passed around scan of original ARRL Radiogram to be used as a model for the certificate.

    1. Johnny Clem special event station (Bob NR8U).

·        Event will be August 11, 2007

·        Bob NR8U indicated we will be using drawings from elementary school for certificates.

    1. FD (John W8NM)

·        John W8NM indicated we are on track.  Working with NARA group regarding refreshments, etc.

·        Steve N8WL gave a presentation regarding FD Bonus Points. 

·        Steve N8WL asked the group to obtain the ARRL public info packet for $10 - group agreed.

    1. ARES Update (Steve N8WL)

·        Steve N8WL announced there will be an EMA exercise on August 25 from approx. 08:00 - 14:00 that ARES will be participating in.
